2019-2020 Eighth Grade Field Trip to Washington D.C.

We are excited to announce that the annual eighth grade educational field trip to Washington, D.C. has been planned and scheduled. The field trip is an incredible learning opportunity for your child and has been well received by those that have participated in the past. It will give our students a deeper understanding of our nation’s foundational historical events and how our forefathers’ faith in God shaped our nation as we visit numerous sites in the Washington D.C. area.

As a school, we realize this is a great educational trip, beneficial to all that participate. However, we also recognize it is a privilege, not a right, to attend this field trip. We ask, and expect, each participant to be in good behavioral standing aligned with the middle school standards. If a student accumulates 5 discipline referrals and/or is suspended, in school or out, they may not be eligible to attend this field trip. A parent may be asked to attend the trip with their child and pay the double occupancy rate.

American Christian Tours (ACTS) will once again lead our trip as we travel by motor coach for a five day tour of Washington D.C. and Gettysburg. The cost of the trip is $1,159 for all participants (quad rooms). Included in this price is the deposit of $115 which is due October 4, 2019. You will also have the option of purchasing medical cancellation insurance that provides you with a refund if you are unable to participate in the tour due to illness or injury. This is an additional fee of approximately $79 (non-refundable) and must be purchased when registering for the tour. Again, our educational field trip will be a five day tour beginning on Saturday, April 18, and ending on Wednesday, April 22. The tour includes trip transportation, four nights lodging, a certified American Christian Tours Course Leader on each bus, adult supervision on each floor of the hotel where we have rooms, two meals per full days, one meal per partial days, all admissions and all gratuities.

Click here for an informational flyer and a registration page that includes all the registration information and a sample itinerary. If all eighth graders participate, we will need approximately twenty-four female chaperones and twenty-four male chaperones. If you plan to go as a chaperone, you will need to register also. As a parent going as a chaperone, you will be responsible for three students day and night. Specifics will be discussed at our D.C. trip meeting on Monday, August 12, during the Back-to-School event at 4 p.m. in the auditorium.

We highly recommend this exciting educational opportunity. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (502) 244-3225.
