On February 11, 2016 art students at the English Station Campus of Christian Academy School System were awarded 44 Scholastic Arts Awards at the Louisville Metropolitan Region Student Art Awards Ceremony.
“This is the largest art competition in the world with more than 300,000 students
competing. It is such an honor for our students to have their work selected for 23
Honorable Mentions, 11 Silver Keys and 10 Gold Keys, 1 National Gold Medal, 1
National Silver Medal and 1 National American Visionary Award.”, art teacher
Tammy Cusick said. “Our students are gifted artists and work throughout their
high school art career to assemble a quality portfolio including these pieces.”
Each year, the art program focuses on building the strength of each individual
student recognizing each class is unique. Cusick focuses their attention on
learning and improving their strengths.
For 12 years, Cusick was the middle school art teacher and is currently in her
seventh year at the high school level. She said the art program continues to grow
and anticipates even more students next year. We now offer 10 different art
classes from ceramics to graphic design. We offer AP Studio Drawing, AP 2-D
Design and AP 3-D Design.
“In our upper levels we discuss art and learn to critique art well. Students give
and take honest criticism and feedback, helping each other improve their art,”
