Giving Thanks

What are you thankful for, really grateful for? I am appreciative, thankful and grateful for Rock Creek parents, grandparents, teachers and staff. The month of November has been filled with activities, and we were concerned families were becoming overwhelmed with flyers, emails and requests for help. However, as usual, Rock Creek families contributed above and beyond. Thank you for donations of time, money, silent auction items and baked goods. Your donations contribute to our mission:  “Developing students with a heart for God.” I am moved by this tender story that reminds me of our purpose …

One of our young students has found himself crying during Chapel singing for the last few weeks. He has felt embarrassed and confused, wanting to control the tears and not understanding why he can not. He has also found himself crying at church during a recent worship song. As I have communicated with his parents, it has become clear the Spirit of God is seeking and calling out to this child. How awesome to see God using our Chapel to speak to this little boy! What I am thankful for: my family attends a school that truly seeks after God’s will in the lives of young children.

Give Thanks is the theme song in Chapel this month. After the adorable kindergartners presented their Thanksgiving program this week, Mrs. Stewart and the Praise Team led us in scripture readings during our praise song, “Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One.” What a powerful reminder of rightfully placed gratitude! We invite you to join us during our Wednesday Chapel worship. Come and experience for yourself as God speaks to his children.

Thank you:

Beautification Committee:
Thank you, Allison Ott, (her sons Kenneth, Steven, and Tommy as well as her mother, Marie Edwards) for trimming shrubs and bushes to prepare our campus for Open House. The walkway area looks beautiful and your hours of work are appreciated and noticed. If you would like to help Allison, please contact her at

Rock Creek Open House Volunteers:
We had 32 families attend Open House. Thank you parents, for welcoming guests, leading tours and sharing your experience at Rock Creek. This event was held the same week as Christmas at CAL, and we are grateful for the much needed help from parent volunteers.

Christmas at CAL Volunteers and Contributors:
Thank you to over 120 volunteers who worked during Christmas at CAL. Thank you to Bethany Vornholt and her team of committee chairs who planned the details for our successful day. Thank you to PTO leadership for putting in many additional hours to support this event. Thank you to parents/grandparents who provided items for baskets, baked goods, silent auction donations and responded to Sign-Up Genius! This event truly is dependent on every Rock Creek family. Christmas at CAL raised over $19,000 that will be used to purchase much needed items for our campus and students this year.

Operation Christmas Child Update:
Our students collected approximately 200 boxes for Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child program. Thanks to your generosity children throughout the world will hear the good news about Jesus Christ!

Morning Carpool and Cafeteria Volunteers:
You provide an incredible service deeply appreciated by teachers. Without you, teachers would have two additional duties:

· Carpool volunteers allow teachers to work in their rooms and use precious morning time to complete final preparations for their day.

· Cafeteria volunteers allow teachers to eat their 20-minute lunch without the interruption of opening condiment packets, distributing straws and mopping the occasional spill.

You have no idea of the positive impact these two volunteer service positions offer. Thank you.
