2022-2023 – 

The Marching Centurions began their season with a 2nd place finish at the Bands of America Obetz, OH Regional in Class A, which is the highest finish the Marching Centurions has ever had at a national competition. In their first State competition of the season at the Beechwood Festival of Bands, the band won Best Percussion and earned second place in Class AA. The band finished in 3rd place in the KMEA Regional Competition for Class AA and won Best Overall Visual Performance. They then ended their state competition with a 7th place finish in the KMEA Marching Band Championships in Class AA. The show this year was entitled “Sanctuary” and took our audience through a church service of Prelude, Welcome, Offertory, Message and Benediction.

In December, the Orchestra spent the day in area nursing homes, playing in various ensembles for the residents. Our Choir traveled to east-end neighborhoods to carol for the communities, spreading the joy of Christmas to others.

We had 30 students make either the All-State Band, Choir or Orchestra.

We had 2 middle school band students make the KBO (KY Band Organization) All-State Band.

We had 9 high school band students and 8 middle school band students make the District 5 All-District Band along with 4 students from the high school in the District 5 All-District Jazz and Percussion Ensemble.

We had 74 events in Solo and Ensemble for Orchestra and all 74 events received a Distinguished Rating!

We had 21 events in Solo and Ensemble for Band and 19 events received a Distinguished Rating!

Our School of the Arts had the only Symphony Orchestra in the state to participate in the KMEA Large Ensemble District Festivals and they received a Distinguished Rating.

6th, 7th and 8th Grade Choirs all received Distinguished Ratings at KMEA Large Ensemble District Festival.

6th, 7th Concert Orchestra, Serenade Orchestra and Chamber Strings all received Distinguished Ratings at KMEA Large Ensemble District Festival.

6th and 7th Grade Bands both received Distinguished Ratings at KMEA Large Ensemble District Festival.

We had 5 students continue to the 2nd round of the Governor’s School for the Arts in the following areas: Musical Theatre, Visual Art, Vocal Music and Instrumental Music Brass. They find out their final results on April 15.

2016Marching Centurions were 6th at Class AA Semifinals for Kentucky Marching Band State Championships.

 

2016Wind Ensemble was the Bronze Award winner at the Walt Disney World Festivals Disney.
