The Christian Academy of Louisville drama program was founded in 1981. Each year, two full-scale productions are staged: a mystery play in the fall and alternating family plays/musicals in the spring. Additionally throughout the years, high school drama students continue to perform chapel skits, children’s stories for elementary, and improv, complemented by Theater Arts class for introductory acting and production skills. Though all ages may be involved with school productions, elementary students also participate in PAC (Performing Arts Club) and middle-school drama club students write, rehearse, and produce their own skits/plays.

Since 2010, the program has used the name DramatiCALs, indicating the ministry’s mission statement: “Drama at CAL is whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (I Corinthians 10:31).

DramatiCALs Jr. Present

Christian Academy School System | Christian Academy of Louisville | DramatiCALs Jr. Present Adventures of a Comic Book Artist | November 11-12

Stephanie Leonardo Sappovitz wants nothing more than to become a comic book artist and create heroes and villains for the comic books she loves so much.  As the janitor at Wonder Comics, she anxiously awaits the day that her boss, D.C.  Wunderman, will see her drawings and give her the chance to have her superheroes come alive on the printed page.  Stephanie’s heroes come alive, all right — but not on the printed page!  In an effort to revive his faltering company, Wunderman had ordered a set of magical pens guaranteed to bring to life any character drawn.  When plans go awry and his staff of artists unwittingly create the dreaded super-villain Doctor Shock Clock, it is up to Stephanie to save the day with her own superheroes.

Everyone loves comic book superheroes, so both cast and audience will love this action-packed spoof of the comic book genre complete with hysterical singing superheroes and dancing villains.
