  • World Down Syndrome Day is on March 21.  Wear your WDSD t-shirt and silly socks!  Those students with the best silly socks will receive a Starbucks gift card!!!
  • Lost & found is overflowing…please collect YOUR things before they are donated!
  • Applications for the 2024-25 Yearbook Staff are now available to pick up on the outside door of Room 221 (Mr. Krebs’ room). Yearbook class is mainly for Juniors and Seniors and incorporates photography, design, graphics, and writing.  If you have an interest in all four or just one, pick up and fill out an application quickly be­­­fore the deadline hits on Friday, March 22nd.  Email Mr. Krebs at skrebs@caschools.us if you would like an electronic application or if you have any questions. Space is very limited! Remember, it is not a yearbook; it is your book.
  • Student drivers…do you carpool with elementary students?  If yes, please do not let the children walk across the student parking lots or the crosswalks alone.  All elementary-age students should be walked into the school.  Thank you!
  • NO beverage cups are allowed in the cafeteria kitchen area unless they are clear.  Additionally…the Handbook states that beverage cups in the classroom must be clear as well.
  • Detention will be on Wednesday from 3:20 – 4:20 and on Friday, enter door #31, be here at 7 and have your $5.

CONGRATULATIONS MUSIC STUDENTS!!!

  • Congratulations to the Chorale, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Ensemble members for a successful trip and performance in Orlando this past week.  
    Honors Chorale received a superior rating, won best in class and was 3rd overall regardless of class bringing home a bronze Mickey!
    Honors Wind Ensemble received an excellent rating missing a superior by one point and was second overall in their class.
    Honors Chamber Orchestra received a superior rating and won best in class.
    The Symphonic Orchestra also received a superior rating.
    In the same class with 6 orchestras competing, Honors Chamber Orchestra won 2nd bringing home the silver Mickey and the Symphonic Orchestra won 1st overall bringing home the GOLD Mickey!
    Ty Stanton was also the only instrumental soloist recognized at the festival as Outstanding Soloist for the weekend.

HELP WANTED:

  • Looking for summer babysitter for son(11), 4-5 days/week.  Needing someone that can drive, he will be in activities over the summer.  If interested, I can provide more details, please contact Tara Pemberton at 502-548-4925 or taraspemberton12@gmail.com.
  • We are looking for a female (maybe a high school student) who can drive and commit to helping with our two CAL kids (ages 10 and 12) this summer during June 24-28, July 1-3, July 15-19, and July 22-26. Hours are approx 9-3. We want someone who can engage them in activities and limit screens. We’d also be happy to hire this person to help care for our kids during the occasional date night. SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

  • MADE Hoops is the nationals leader in grassroot basketball events. Hosting some of the best teams in the country in one of a king basketball events. We are excited to bring MADE Hoops to Lexington. Events are made possible through the help of paid local staff and we would love to work with students from CAL. The 2024 Bluegrass Invitational will take place May 11th-13th and there is a wide variety of roles looking to fill.   • Elementary Father/Daughter Dance – we need 12-15 HS volunteers on Friday, 3/15 in the blue gym.  We need help decorating, setting up tables, serving refreshments, setting up the flower shop, cleaning up, etc.  We will start at 3:30 pm and end at 10:30 pm. COUNSELORS:

Seniors, applications are available for the CAL Scholarships that will be presented at Senior Awards Night. See your Counselor for an application.  These are due to your Counselor by Monday, April 15th at 3:10 p.m. 
  • PTO – $1,000 to 1 male and 1 female who demonstrates a Christ-centered life, positive example for others, applies a consistent effort in academics, genuine concern for others, demonstrates exemplary conduct and Christian character
  • Alumni – $1,000 to a student who demonstrates Christian character, has attended CAL for 4 years, has a strong involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Paar Family Memorial Scholarship – $2,500 to a student who demonstrates a loving and accepting attitude, generosity, and compassion, sees the beauty in the differences of others, offers encouragement to others, and is actively involved in community service.
  • The Chapel in the Woods Bill McKinley Memorial Scholarship – $5,000 to a student who plans to pursue undergraduate coursework in the field of Education at an accredited Christian college or university.
  • Bill McKinley Memorial Scholarship – $1,250 to a student who demonstrates compassion, possesses a forgiving heart, displays a generous spirit, provides encouragement to others
  • Kaytryn Dianna Parrish Memorial Scholarship – $1000 to a student who exhibits a desire to follow Jesus’s example in attitude, compassion, generosity, grace-filled heart
  • HOSA (Future Health Professionals) – $300 to a student who demonstrates leadership in HOSA Club meetings and service projects, demonstrates a Christ-centered life, positive example for others, gives consistent effort in academic pursuit, genuine concern for others, demonstrates exemplary conduct and Christian character

  • West Point’s Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June. Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!   • Taylor University is offering an exciting innovation and entrepreneurship educational opportunity! IMPACT is a week-long summer camp in July for rising high school juniors and seniors seeking to develop their leadership abilities for the common good. During the intensive, week-long program, students are divided into handpicked teams to strategically address their ideas and to develop a feasible project plan through practical tools. By the end of the week, students will have developed a ready-to-be-launched venture.  If interested, please speak to your counselor.
  • Seniors planning to pursue a degree in the field of Cosmetology and plan to attend an accredited cosmetology school in the state of KY can apply for scholarships at
