Due to the interest in swimming and the information needed for such, we will have a meeting here at Christian Academy of Indiana, not Christian Academy of Louisville as previously communicated, this coming Wednesday, October 1, at 4:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria. All interested 6th-8th grade families will need to be in attendance to have their questions answered.

Reminders and Announcements – Friday, September 26

I want to remind everyone that winter sports sign ups are going on right now, and that you must be registered by October 3, to participate this winter. Also, please read the following for a few big announcements:

  • Monday night, September 29, two of the top ranked volleyball teams in southern Indiana will square off at CAI. Your undefeated (21-0) Lady Warriors will face the #1 ranked, crosstown rivals, Providence Pioneers. This game will be broadcast live on the radio, so we need the Warrior Nation out in full force. The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow. Be sure to get here early as we are expecting a sell-out crowd.
  • Beginning this fall (October 22), former Cincinnati Reds player and coach Jay Sorge will be coming back to CAI to host hitting lessons. These lessons will be held on Wednesday night from 6-9 p.m. in three, one hour, time slots. This is first come, first served, with limited spots. If you are interested, you must contact Richard Paris immediately at richardoparisii@me.com.
  • Lastly, and a bit disappointing, due to an IHSAA clerical error, CAI will not be hosting boys soccer sectionals this year. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered. We look forward to hosting it next year.

Girls and boys soccer sectional draws are today, as well as cross country and tennis sectionals on the horizon. It will be a big two weeks for CAI athletics, so be on the look out for details!

IMPORTANT Information Regarding Winter Sports Signups for Swim Team

As you know, winter sports signups began yesterday and everyone received a link for registration. It is crucial that you have your child registered by October 3, so that you can receive information from coaches regarding tryouts, practices, games, etc.

Many have also recognized and voiced excitement over swimming, a new sport we are adding this winter. Swimming will be introduced this year in partnership with our sister school Christian Academy of Louisville. Due to league restrictions and contrary to what the email said yesterday, swimming will only be available to 6th-8th grade students.  If you are considering being part of the CAI/CAL swim team you need to attend a mandatory meeting next Monday night, September 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the Christian Academy of Louisville English Station Campus’ Media Center.  You will receive all the information you need concerning swimming at this meeting.

This will be the first volleyball match between the two schools, and we are expecting a sell-out crowd. The game will also be broadcast on the radio, which is the first time in history that a southern Indiana radio station has picked up a volleyball game. CAI needs as many Warrior fans in attendance as possible! #WarriorNation
  • Please remember, sectionals are less than a month away. CAI will host boys soccer sectionals this year during the second week in October, and our girls soccer program will be playing in the Forrest Park Sectional that week as well. More details about all of our sectionals competitions to come!

A Letter to CAI Families

It is that time of year again! As we begin the 2014-2015 school year, our small community is buzzing with the excitement generated by our athletic endeavors over the last three years. It is hard to believe I am entering my fourth year serving you as your athletic director. When I arrived at CAI we had some “walls” to rebuild, and over the last three years we have not only repaired broken walls but we have changed the culture of athletics at our school. Today we have student athletes striving for the incorruptible prize and competing at high levels. I believe this year we will all be able to witness the fruit from our intense labor. Though I am excited about the harvest, I know that the planting and watering must go on at even greater intensities. With that in mind, here is some important information as we begin 2014-2015:

First Day of Practice for ALL FALL SPORTS:

Fall sports will begin July 30. If your 5th-12th grade student intends on playing a fall sport, they need to be on the roster before July 30. If you missed fall sports signups, please email myself or Coach O’Loughlin as soon as possible at charper@caschools or boloughlin@caschools.

**Remember, all student athletes must have an updated sports physical on file before they can begin play.

Elementary Sports – Fall Soccer:

Fall soccer will be provided for our kindergarten-4th grade students this year. Signups will begin late August, so be on the lookout for registration emails.

CAI Athletic Department will Host the Warrior 4-Miler:

This years Warrior 4-Miler has been moved to August 16, so that all of our student athletes, students and families can participate in this community event. Proceeds from the race this year will go to help our Scholar Athlete Scholarship program. We encourage all of our CAI families to run and to invite your friends and family! Visit warrior4miler.com for more information and to signup.

New Staff Member – Ross Heinz:

CAI athletics would like to introduce everyone to our new Assistant Athletic Director, Ross Heinz. Ross is a CAI alumni and has been serving as a coach in our elementary, middle school and high school programs for the last three years. Ross is getting ready to graduate from Indiana University Southeast and is excited about the opportunity to serve here at CAI in the athletic department.

Back-to-School Orientation:

During the Back-to-School orientation on July 29, we will have our Warrior Armory set up in the commons area so that you can purchase the latest school/spirit wear. The Armory will be open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Also, visit our athletics table for all your fall sports information and forms.

Baseball Sectional Draw

The IHSAA high school baseball sectional draw is complete. Our varsity baseball team will face New Washington at South Central on May 31, (Saturday) at 10 a.m.

Once we win, we will play for the sectional championship on the following Monday. We need all our Warrior fans in attendance, so mark your calendars and come help cheer our boys on!

Tennis Sectional Championship

Calling All Warrior Fans,

Our girls varsity tennis team defeated 4A New Albany and has advanced to the sectionals championship today, May 22, in New Albany at 4:30 p.m. vs. Lanesville. Let’s have a huge turn-out and support our Lady Warriors!

Summer and Fall Sports Information

As we wrap up another year, following are some important announcements moving into summer and fall:

  • Warrior summer sports camps signups are under way, and online registration must be completed by June 1. Click here for camp offering details and to register.
  • Fall sports signups were sent out yesterday, Monday, May 19. Please be sure to complete signups before June 3 by following the instructions per your email to register. Remember, middle school athletics now includes grades 5-8. Every athlete participating in fall sports will need a new physical. Physicals must be dated April 1, or later and must be turned in to the athletic director’s office before or on the first day of school.
  • Any 5th-12th grade family interested in fall soccer should contact Coach O’Loughlin (bloughlin@caschools.us or (502) 751-3225) and/or Coach Heinz (ross.heinz@aol.com or (502) 526-3449) if you do not have the summer soccer conditioning schedule.
  • As we have seen a substantial increase in attendance, fan support, and school spirit at our athletic events we are now in need of volunteer concession managers. These volunteers will work with Tracy Baird, our Concessions Director, in making sure our concessions run at every event with excellence and a focus on hospitality. In addition, we are in need of guys or gals who are “grill-masters” to help grill food at the games. If this is a talent or passion of yours, please contact Tracy at Tracyb5@me.com or call the athletics office at (812) 944-6200 as soon as possible!
  • Before we forget about spring, I want to remind everyone that we are about to begin sectionals in tennis, track, and baseball. Our girls high school tennis team plays tomorrow night, May 21, 5 p.m., at New Albany. CAI is favored to win its first tennis sectional in school history, so come out and support our Lady Warriors. Also, girls track begins tonight, May 20, and boys track sectionals are Thursday, May 22. The meets are held at Corydon Central this year and we’d love to see people there.
  • Finally, the Athletic Office will be open Monday-Thursdays this summer from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We will be closed from June 28-July 6, for the IHSAA moratorium.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions or needs.
