CAI Lady Warriors to Compete for Volleyball State Championship this Saturday, Nov. 8!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Lady Warrior Volleyball team as they are semi-state champions and have earned the right to play for the state championship this coming Saturday, November 8, at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Following is some pertinent information you will need to know:

  • Tickets for the state championship game will be on sale in the athletic office on Wednesday, November 5, from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tickets are $10. We only have 200 tickets, so it is first come first served. If you do not buy a ticket now, you will have to buy one at Ball State the day of the game.
  • There will be two fan buses leaving Saturday morning at 7 a.m. sharp from CAI. This is limited to the first 70 people to register. When you buy a ticket Wednesday, you can register for the fan bus at that time. You have to buy a ticket to get a seat on the fan bus. Once you sign up, you will receive a permission slip that you will need Saturday morning or you will not be permitted on the bus.
  • This Thursday, November 6, will be a spirit day (Disney Day), and this Friday, November 7, will be a blue-gold day.
  • Friday morning our team will be leaving for Muncie at 9 a.m. We will have a police/fire escort as we travel to state. I encourage all our fans and families to be here at school Friday morning as we will attempt to “line the drive” and show our support for the Lady Warriors. We want fans, families and friends lining Academy Drive with signs, posters, etc… as the girls leave. My assistants will be there with instruction Friday morning. Bring your own signs, posters, air horns, etc…
  • A big “THANK YOU” to Insulated Roofing Contractors who will be sponsoring fan towels for everyone who comes to the game Saturday. It will be a blue out (WEAR BLUE), and everyone will receive a #STATEBOUND rally towel at the game.

This a momentous event for our school and community. CAI is very proud of all our student-athletes and the families and communities we represent. It is crucial that we get behind our ladies and encourage them as they attempt to do something that has never been done in the history of our school. No matter the outcome, we hold true to our motto, “running for the incorruptible prize” as we strive to reach our goal with the love and message of Christ Jesus. We hope to see everyone on Saturday.

Cross Country Regionals, Winter Sports Signups Deadline and Volleyball Sectionals

Our fall season is abruptly coming to an end. Below are a few quick notes regarding important events:

  • Our high school boys cross country team will be competing at regionals next Saturday, October 18, at Crawford Co. HS. Joining them will be Natalie Ferree, who qualified for regionals in the girls event. Congratulations to all our runners and we wish them the best of luck at regionals.
  • Winter signups will end October 15. Out of kindness, I have extended winter signups until October 15. Right now many rosters are full, but we are missing many participants (especially in girls middle school basketball, high school boys basketball, and high school wrestling). I would hate to have to cancel our high school boys basketball season because families are unwilling to signup on time. The athletic and business offices have been more then gracious in extending time, deadlines, etc., so October 15 will be it. No exceptions.
  • Volleyball sectionals begin next week, October 20. Please follow future announcements as we will be updating the sectional tourney schedule.

Important Fall Break and Tournament Information, Reminders and a Note from CAI Athletics

As the fall sports season comes to an end and the end of season tournaments begin, please read the following for some pertinent information you need to know about athletics and fall break:

  • HS Volleyball – Our girls will be playing over fall break, so we hope that any and all students and their families that will be in town will come out to support our Lady Warriors. Volleyball sectionals will begin the week we return from fall break, so come back prepared to march on with the Warrior Nation.
  • MS Volleyball – Our last game is this Friday, October 3, at Borden at 6 p.m. Come out and cheer on our “Junior Lady Warriors!”
  • HS Tennis – Our boys begin sectional play begins tomorrow, October 1, at New Albany High School at 4:15 p.m. Again, all available, please come out and support the Warrior Nation.
  • MS Tennis -Our last match is today, September 30, vs. Lanesville.
  • HS Girls Soccer – Our Lady Warriors begin sectional play next Monday, October 6, at Heritage Hills High School (Lincoln, Indiana)vs. North Harrison at 6 p.m. Though it is a long drive, it will be worth the trip to see our Lady Warriors avenge a seasonal loss to North Harrision and move on to the semi-finals of sectionals. The Warriors have posted an 11-3-2 record this year, setting the school record for most wins in a season.
  • HS Boys Soccer – Our Warriors begin sectional play next Wednesday, October 8, at Providence High School vs. Lanesvilleat 5 p.m. We are looking for a huge Warrior Nation turn out as we begin our march towards another sectional title.
  • HS Cross Country – Sectionals begin on October 11, at Crawford County. Our men and women have done an excellent job this year competing against some of the best schools in Indiana. Any and all students and their families in town over fall break should come out and support our Warriors Cross Country program run in the most exciting 15 minutes in sports (we hope)!
  • MS Cross Country -The middle school cross country team will travel north of Indy this Saturday, October 4, and defend their state championship title at the Indiana State Middle School Cross Country Championships. Winning the majority of their runs this year and boasting some of the top runners in the state, we are excited about the chance to defend the state title.

The following are a couple of important reminders for this week:

  • Winter sports begin when we return from fall break with tryouts, practices, etc… If you want to participate in a winter sport you must be registered by this Friday, October 3.
  • CAI Armory has exciting new items available! Be sure to check out the new “Property Of” t-shirt design for juniors, as well as a unisex style. Also, the new “WARRIORS” embroidered 50″x 60″ fleece blanket for the cooler weather. Finally, please note that the athletic office will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday during fall break from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. All other days and times we will be in and out of the office and traveling to games and tournaments. The quickest way to reach us will be by the phone numbers or email addresses listed below in case you have any questions or find an appointment is necessary.

Reminders and Announcements – Friday, September 26

I want to remind everyone that winter sports sign ups are going on right now, and that you must be registered by October 3, to participate this winter. Also, please read the following for a few big announcements:

  • Monday night, September 29, two of the top ranked volleyball teams in southern Indiana will square off at CAI. Your undefeated (21-0) Lady Warriors will face the #1 ranked, crosstown rivals, Providence Pioneers. This game will be broadcast live on the radio, so we need the Warrior Nation out in full force. The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow. Be sure to get here early as we are expecting a sell-out crowd.
  • Beginning this fall (October 22), former Cincinnati Reds player and coach Jay Sorge will be coming back to CAI to host hitting lessons. These lessons will be held on Wednesday night from 6-9 p.m. in three, one hour, time slots. This is first come, first served, with limited spots. If you are interested, you must contact Richard Paris immediately at richardoparisii@me.com.
  • Lastly, and a bit disappointing, due to an IHSAA clerical error, CAI will not be hosting boys soccer sectionals this year. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered. We look forward to hosting it next year.

Girls and boys soccer sectional draws are today, as well as cross country and tennis sectionals on the horizon. It will be a big two weeks for CAI athletics, so be on the look out for details!
