Back-to-School Drop-in for All Students, August 13

We want to share some important information regarding our upcoming Back-to-School Drop-In. This event will be held on Monday, August 13, from 2-5 p.m. Please come to school anytime during these hours to meet your teachers, receive your student packet including lunch account information, carpool tags, PTO information and everything you need to know for the first day of school. The first day of school will be on Wednesday, August 15, and the day will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 3:10 p.m.

Please bring the following items with you on August 13:

  • All kindergarten families and all new 1st-8th grade students must bring the Required Health Documents. Please also remember the new requirements for immunizations for ALL students in kindergarten-8th grades that require the Hepatitis A vaccine.
  • All school supplies for your grade level as listed on the Class Supply List.
  • Completed optional Summer Reading Assignment.
  • School Policy Commitment Form signed by parent and student – please thoroughly read the Southwest Elementary Family Handbook and/or read the Southwest Middle School Family Handbook. The handbooks contain valuable information regarding our school policies. The handbooks also contain all dress code requirements. Please note that Chapel Day is on Thursdays. Elementary (K-5th Grade) students will not have chapel on August 16, so chapel uniforms must be worn for the first time on Thursday, August 23. Middle school (6th-8th grade) students will have chapel on August 16, so they should be in chapel uniforms that day.

Kindergarten – 8th Grade Parent Night, August 23

Parent Night for kindergarten-8th grade families will be on Thursday, August 23. This is a time for parents only (no students) to be able to spend time in the classrooms with their child’s teacher and learn more about what to expect for this new school year. This is also a great time for you to ask any questions that you might have! Our PTO will be on campus that night to share more about volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The times listed below are for the classroom sessions specific for each grade level, so that if you have children in multiple grades, we hope that you have the opportunity to visit each of their classrooms. Important Information for 2018-2019 at Christian Academy of Louisville – Southwest

We have reached the last days of the 2017-2018 school year! We have shared a wonderful year with you and your children and have been blessed to partner with you. We are already busy preparing things for the 2018-2019 school year since August 15, will be here before we know it! We want to share with you important information that you will need in preparation for the new school year. Please read this email carefully and note that all of the linked items will be available on our website as well at www.caschools.us/sw.

  • Optional Summer Reading Assignment for Kindergarten through 5th Grades – If your family chooses to participate, your child will complete the assignment for the grade level that they will be entering for 2018-2019, not the grade level that they just completed. This will be turned in on Monday, August 13, at Back-to-School Drop-In. Each student received a paper copy of their assignment during the week of May 14.
  • Registration for Before and After-school Care – All registration is being handled online as part of our Web Forms completion process beginning on June 25. Please watch your emails this summer, as space is limited in these programs.
  • Collection of Student Information – Web Forms will be open in RenWeb from June 25-August 1. All student information must be updated in RenWeb during that time (emergency contacts, authorized transportation, medical forms, etc.). Please watch for an email the week of June 25, and complete your forms online as soon as possible.
  • Class Supply Lists for Kindergarten through 8th Grades
  • Christian Academy Uniform ResaleSaturday, July 14, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the English Station Campus
  • CAL-Southwest Day at Coffman’s Uniforms – Wednesday, July 25, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Coffman’s is one of our uniform providers and on July 25, they are offering 10% off your purchase of uniform items. Coffman’s is located at 4951 Manslick Road, near the intersection of Manslick and Gagel.

Please mark your calendars for Monday, August 13! Our Back-to-School Drop-In will be held that afternoon from 2-5 p.m. for all students in junior academy (preschool) through 8th grades. You may come anytime during these hours to meet your teachers, bring all of your school supplies, complete school paperwork, add funds to lunch accounts and take care of all the necessary items so that we are ready to go for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 15!

Coding Camp led by Enectronic Labs this Summer 2018!

We have an exciting summer camp opportunity! For students currently in grades 2-11 (i.e. grades 3-12 for the 2018-2019 school year), we are hosting a coding camp led by Enectronic Labs! Final Chapel Service, May 17

We will have a combined chapel service on Thursday, May 17, from 9-10 a.m. for all kindergarten-8th grade students. Parents and other family members are welcome to attend. The service will be held in the church sanctuary next door. We will be reflecting over the 2017-2018 school year and thanking God for the many blessings that He has given us over the course of this year. We will also be recognizing our students who have made their profession of faith during this school year.
