Christian Academy School System | COVID-19 | Procedures and Protocols

Following are the Christian Academy School System guidelines being used to stay in school safely during the 2022-2023 school year. We have consulted a variety of resources to guide these decisions, including the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), Kentucky Department of Public Health (DPH), Floyd County Health Department and Louisville Metro Health Department. Additionally, we examined our internal data and policy/procedures from the 2021-2022 school year. We will continue to monitor infection rates in our schools and in the community and will adjust guidelines as needed.

Temperature and Health Checks

  • It is recommended that parents continue to check their child/ren for signs of illness before coming to campus.
    COVID-19 Screening for Parents
  • Staff and students will need to remain home as soon as any illness is suspected. Do not come to campus sick for school or extracurricular activities.

Masks

  • The use of masks at school is optional based on the needs of individual employees as well as students and their families.
  • Individuals with confirmed COVID-19 cases who are eligible to return on days 6-10 must wear a well-fitting mask.

    Quarantine

    • As of February 23, 2022 in Indiana and March 4, 2022 in Kentucky, universal contact tracing in the school setting is no longer required. Quarantine may be recommended by the local health department if a COVID-19 outbreak occurs.
    • Please contact your school office with any questions about picking up assignments and work for your students that must quarantine due to household exposure or isolation.
