My wife and I have been blessed to be a part of the Christian Academy School System for 17 years! I first came to be involved at Christian Academy when we first moved back to Louisville and entered our two sons into elementary school. Almost immediately, we felt part of strong community and supporting network of families and we saw the immediate impact the teachers had on our boy’s lives as they taught with God’s love. We started becoming more involved by volunteering in the sports and fine arts programs. In fact we believed so much in the mission of the school system, that in 2006 I decided to join my wife and become an employee of Christian Academy.

I cannot wait to get to school each day! I get to see our teachers intentionally looking for ways to engage their students’ learning while challenging them to look through a biblical worldview lens. I get to experience the God-given abilities, skills, and passions of students and watch in amazement as they use those for God’s glory. I get to build relationships with parents and share with them as their children grow and mature and move into adulthood. Christian Academy has definitely been a huge part of my family’s life and I thank God daily.

Looking into schools for the first time with our daughter entering kindergarten was remarkably overwhelming. Not being from Louisville, the concept of looking at private education was foreign to us. Upon inquiring and touring many schools, we decided to visit Christian Academy. Our decision was simple after that. After a few years, I decided to come work at CAL in the Junior Academy program after enrolling my son in the program. Nine years later, our school has become our family. I look back and am thankful for the opportunity to serve as a teacher. Every day I get to teach, love and serve our families (some who have become my closest friends) and have a daily fellowship with my friends at work. When life’s trials and struggles arise, I can count on my friends throughout the entire school to stop and pray for and with me. What a blessing knowing that there is a community of people who pray for you and lift you up at work. My daughter now in high school and my son entering middle school, I reflect on why that decision to come to CAL was so simple. We knew as parents that we wanted a solid Christian education for our children, but I didn’t know at the time that the Lord had even bigger plans for me. The journey has been a full one. I can wholeheartedly say that I am grateful that the Lord placed me at CAL nine years ago. Doing what I love every day for our children and families is one of the biggest rewards that I can think of. I have been rewarded with families, friendships and fellowship that will last me a lifetime.

Our daughter spent 12 years at Christian Academy being taught and cared for by some of the most Godly people I know. I am thankful for being able to work side-by-side with people who view their jobs as more than their jobs, but also their ministries. I am often reminded of this when we see former students return just to say "hi." Many have started careers, have children of their own and more than a few have returned to become staff members. It's then you realize that we are more than a school - we are a family. I pray God will continue to use our family to not only educate but also show the love of Christ to our students, their families and our community.

I was first involved with Christian Academy as a parent. My three children all graduated from Christian Academy. Following God’s prompting, I came to Christian Academy as a teacher in 2008. I thought it would be for a few years while I decided my next step professionally. I have always had a passion for working with students who learn differently. I never envisioned that I would use my expertise in special education at Christian Academy. However, God had a different plan for me and He let it unfold slowly. I began working at the Rock Creek campus as an Academic Support Specialist. During that time, I was actively involved with the planning and implementation of The Providence School, which serves students with Down syndrome. I later accepted the role of Director of Educational Resources. Both of these opportunities provided me the with the ability to return to my first passion in education and continue God’s call for me at Christian Academy. Christian Academy has provided my children with a quality education centered on a biblical worldview and has provided me with a place in which I can grow and learn professionally and spiritually. I am blessed to be able to use my expertise in education in a Christ-centered environment. I am grateful for the role Christian Academy has played in my life both as a parent and a professional.

I have the distinct privilege of being both a Christian Academy employee and a CAL parent. My two sons have been students at the Southwest Campus since they were 2-years-old, and I cannot put into words the blessing it has been for me to serve in the same building every day with my boys and their classmates. Being able to see them daily interact with their teachers and friends, sharing in their special events – chapel services, classroom Christmas parties, Race for Education and even just having the opportunity to have lunch with them in the cafeteria – as a working mom, I could not ask for a better place to be!

My co-workers have become some of my dearest friends. We have shared in each other’s moments of joy and sorrow. I know that if I ask for prayer, there will be 40 of my co-workers lifting me up to the Lord. I love having the opportunity to pour into the lives of our students and it has been such a blessing to watch so many of them grow up! I am so thankful that God has given me this career – it has become so much more than just a job. It is a place where I have been able to use my God-given talents to bring glory to Him and hopefully leave a positive impact on our students and families.
