The mission of Providence School

“Today, the Louisville Metro area offers limited choices in educational opportunities for families who have children with Down syndrome. It has been a blessing for Christian Academy School System to offer these families a Christian educational experience. Through Providence School, Christian Academy has provided a much needed service within our community. Providence School is impacting all students on the English Station Campus with life-changing opportunities through integrated academic, spiritual and social interactions. As followers of Christ, we are challenged to lead by His example and serve others. Providence School is just one of the exciting ways Christian Academy School System is reaching out to our community.”

We look forward to sharing updates from Providence School throughout the year; be sure to follow us on Facebook to stay connected!

Helping families and students plan for transition beyond high school is an important part of school. Providence School will use the grant money to purchase resources that allow us to build in additional training for students to be ready to show employers that they have the vocabulary, reading and math skills necessary to be successful on the job.

The Project Discovery Career Education/Transition System will be purchased with the grant funds. This hands-on, discovery based curriculum is flexible and allows students to be active learners as they practice job skills. Providence students will receive instruction in academic, social-emotional, language and motor skills alongside job and life readiness skills. Once students have experience with these tasks within a school setting, they will be ready to practice those skills in community settings. With these resources, students will gain key employability and independent living skills that they will use in their communities to live meaningful, productive lives. This grant will open doors for students to be world-changers as they pursue careers with strong skills gained from the training.
