2020

Artistic expression provides unique and creative ways to share God-given gifts and talents to impact others. Through Christian Academy’s growing and award-winning School of the Arts, students have numerous opportunities to develop their gifts. Scholastic Art and Writing is the largest and longest running art competition in the world with more than 330,000 students competing annually. We are honored for our students to have work selected at this level.

Visual Art students at the English Station Campus of the Christian Academy School System were awarded 29 awards in 2020: 3 individual Gold Key Awards, 9 individual Silver Key Awards, 1 Honorable Mention Portfolio Award, and 16 Honorable Mention Awards. The Regional Gold Key Award winning art is eligible for consideration on the national level.

While man-given awards are appreciated, it is the heart that adds to the lives of others. Students are challenged to convey spiritual truth in art and realize that all art depicts either Creation, The Fall of Man, Redemption or Restoration. Our students have also created the art for reading books for students with Down syndrome at our Providence School, contributed Scripture-based art for nursing homes, and sold their art to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

In supporting the development of talent God has given to our students, Christian Academy has grown our visual arts department under Department Chair Tammy Cusick. We offer 13 different art classes ranging from drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture and the digital arts, including AP courses in Studio Drawing, AP 2-D design and AP 3-D Design. All classes are taught with a biblical worldview, giving glory to the Creator over the creation. This reflects the theme of our School of the Arts: Soli Deo Gloria. Glory to God Alone.
