Our Mission
To develop the hearts of students as they discover the role, impact and practice of engineering and how they fulfill a special place within God’s creation mandate; to subdue the earth while extracting and making use of its resources to benefit our community and transform the world for the glory of God.
Engineering Students for Success
Christian Academy offers a life-changing, Christ-centered, service-focused and hands-on approach to the engineering design process.
Students will experience:
- Courses that establish the engineering design process and project management.
- Internship opportunities with biblically centered engineering leaders.
- Projects such as designing disaster relief centers, robotic assistants, computer-aided design prototypes, CNC milled designs and products as well as automated manufacturing plants.
- God’s presence as students learn to appreciate His engineering design and His purpose for their future.
Curriculum Design
The school combines three key factors in its curriculum:
- A foundation of the highest quality classes, incorporating traditional, honors and AP science and math courses.
- Four specific engineering courses that use a collaborative, hands-on, problem-solving learning approach integrating project management, engineering design process and research as well as real-world engineering grand challenges.
- Practical, real-world experiences, including third-world and local engineering challenges designed to challenge students in applying their knowledge and skills.
Diploma Distinction
Students wishing to take a concentration of science, engineering and math courses in the School of Engineering (SOE) will earn a diploma distinction reflecting their enrollment in the SOE. In addition to specific coursework, this concentration requires a project portfolio including insights and reflections on each year, engineering service requirements, rocketry/coding/science club membership and a senior capstone reflection paper.
A specific listing of courses and diploma distinction requirements can be found here.
Credits and Preparation for College
College credit for each of the PLTW engineering courses may be obtained through Missouri University of Science and Technology. Students must earn an A or B in the course as well as a Distinguished or Accomplished on the PLTW standardized End of Course Exam (EOC).
Credits may then be transferred to the college/university of choice. Because specific courses and requirements vary by university and are subject to change, students should check with their prospective school’s transfer credit office for verification.
Preparation for Life
Courses in SOE are designed to challenge and expand a student’s engineering knowledge, analytical abilities and critical thinking skills in bringing God-driven service to others. SOE-enrolled students will enjoy teamwork, problem-solving activities and learning experiences that will serve students well in life as well as in key professions. Such occupations may include careers in biomedical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural design, electrical engineering, computer science and many others.
Most importantly, students will deepen their appreciation of God as the Creative Engineer of our world and their biblical worldview on how to use their God-given engineering skills to serve others and glorify Him.
Questions can be directed to the English Station High School Counselors, Jill Blount (Last Names A-G), Chrissie Moon (Last Names H-O) or Renee Brown (Last Names P-Z) at the guidance office or the SOE teacher Aimee Shabaan at (502) 244-3225.
