Welcome to summer!  I hope your children are enjoying the start of their summer.  I want to draw your attention to a couple of things for the athletics department this summer and as we head toward the start of school.

Summer Practice Opportunities

If you haven’t heard from your coach already, there are a number of great opportunities for you to get some work in this summer for your sport!  Details as we have them right now are included in the attachment.  Be sure to take a look!  If you have a question on a sport not listed or have questions for the coach, please let me know and we can get you in contact with our coach.  All of our summer workouts are optional.

Physicals and Concussion/Cardiac Arrest Forms

These must be turned in to the athletic office prior to the start of official practices in your child’s sport for all 5-12th grade student-athletes (which is August 1).  Current forms and information can be found on the CAI Athletics website.  *Please Note – The IHSAA has changed their physical form and details on these changes are included in the attachment.

Fall Sports Registration

Now open through RenWeb!  The earlier you sign up, the better, as it will give our coaches a point of contact to make sure your child can get plugged in to summer practice opportunities and the start of the official season, which is August 1.  Be sure to check out the attachment for more information!

Athletic Fees

As we look ahead to the new year and opportunities within athletics, I do want to let you know there will be a change in athletic fees beginning with the 2016-2017 school year for both the high school and middle school programs.  Upon further discussion and due to preparations for the upcoming budgetary needs, we have decided to raise the athletic fee to $225 for high school sports and $175 for middle school sports.  We hope having this information will help you begin planning your expenses for your children’s participation in various activities.  We will continue to honor a free third season for any one athlete.  In other words, each athlete who pays for a fall and winter sport will be able to participate in a spring sport with no fee charged.  We understand the attention paid to your finances, especially during economic times that can fluctuate, and your desire to be good stewards of your finances is important.  Athletic fees were developed to help offset the cost of officials, uniforms, coach stipends, event fees, team equipment, transportation, game operations, security, medical expenses, awards, coach education and post-season events, though it does not cover these costs in full for CAI.  The increase of costs in these areas have risen in recent years and the additional increase in fees will help us come closer to meeting the additional costs.

We wish you all have a summer filled with fun, relaxation and family time!
