Thanksgiving Food Drive (Now through November 18) and Missions Save the Dates

Every year about this time, I find myself reflecting on my time in the mission field from the previous year. I have absolutely loved getting to learn and immerse myself in different cultures and among different people groups. God’s creativity and handiwork never ceases to amaze me!

While no one country has been like the next, there has been a running theme throughout my travels and that is the people of God genuinely care for one another. For instance, in rural Uganda many people will plant corn, rice, beans and so on. While one family may only be able to grow one crop they will share with the next family. I’ve seen this same model play out in countries all over the world and yet it never grows old. To witness the joy of one family being able to support another family or for a small community to outreach to a new mother or a refugee camp is one of the most beautiful sights on the face of the earth.

Christian Academy family, we have the opportunity to do the same this November. Between now and November 18, we are collecting canned food to be given to the Bank Street Food Bank and to Eastern Kentucky. Click here for complete details but the main thing to know is families are in need and we have the opportunity to help. Drop off bins are located in each of the school offices for your convenience.

Lastly, since we are all headed into a very busy holiday season, please click here of upcoming mission dates (to print for the fridge of course). We thought you might like to know in advance about some VERY important and fun dates to look forward to, including when we are building house frames #2 and #3 with Help Build Hope.

We hope you have a wonderful day and thank you in advance for helping to meet the needs that surround us in the form of canned food.

DramatiCALs Jr. Present Adventures of a Comic Book Artist, November 11-12

Stephanie Leonardo Sappovitz wants nothing more than to become a comic book artist and create heroes and villains for the comic books she loves so much.  As the janitor at Wonder Comics, she anxiously awaits the day that her boss, D.C.  Wunderman, will see her drawings and give her the chance to have her superheroes come alive on the printed page.  Stephanie’s heroes come alive, all right — but not on the printed page!  In an effort to revive his faltering company, Wunderman had ordered a set of magical pens guaranteed to bring to life any character drawn.  When plans go awry and his staff of artists unwittingly create the dreaded super-villain Doctor Shock Clock, it is up to Stephanie to save the day with her own superheroes.

Everyone loves comic book superheroes, so both cast and audience will love this action-packed spoof of the comic book genre complete with hysterical singing superheroes and dancing villains.

We Need Watch D.O.G.S. on our CAL-English Station and Southwest Campuses!

It is finally time to restart the WATCH D.O.G.S. program at our Christian Academy of Louisville – English Station and Southwest Campuses! With that being said, we need dads, grandfathers or other father figures in order for this program to take off and be successful! The program will officially start in January of 2023. This will allow us to compile a list of volunteers and run background checks. If you are interested and willing to volunteer your time to this worthy cause, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the English Station OR Southwest Watch D.O.G.S. link to apply. All those interested in volunteering must go through a background screening process.
  2. Wait for confirmation on your successful background check. Your background check is good for the current school year.
  3. Once you receive confirmation of a successful background check, you will be emailed a link to sign up to serve. This link will allow you to choose the day you want to volunteer (limited to one day per year).
  4. After you sign up to volunteer, you will be required to complete a short training session that includes a video series.
  5. On the date that you choose to volunteer, you will need to check in at the main office first on each campus and then on the English Station campus you will proceed to the elementary office. At the main (Southwest) or elementary office (English Station), you will receive a schedule and have a brief check-in with the assistant principal or a designated elementary staff member.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our English Station/Southwest Campus Assistant Principal, Mr. Gutierrez at jgutierrez@caschools.us or (502) 753-4610.

Ms. Chase is ALL IN!

Thank you for celebrating each of our ALL IN teachers! Join us in making a gift to Christian Academy School System.

Here is one example:

Julie Chase
Julie truly exemplifies what it means to be “ALL IN.” She pours so much of her time into planning engaging, effective lessons for her students. She works to tailor her instruction to meet each child’s individual needs and builds personal relationships with each of her students. She is a true example of Christ in her words and actions.
