Assisting students in making appropriate course decisions for high school is a vital service provided by the Counseling Department. Students have the opportunity to meet with their counselor to determine appropriate course selection related to their diploma track and career interests.
During the second semester of the eighth grade year a Freshman Orientation meeting is held for students and their parents to assist with the transition into high school. In addition to scheduling and diploma requirements, various information for success in high school is covered.
In the spring of the junior year students are counseled to verify that they are on track for the particular diploma they desire to obtain (either the Core 40 Diploma or the Core 40 with Academic Honor’s Diploma). A parent/student Senior Orientation meeting is also held to prepare both the students and their parents for the events and expectations of the senior year.
