Christian Academy is working diligently with EdChoice Ky and the Catholic Conference of Kentucky to advance legislation that would increase financial support for families seeking the most appropriate education for their children.

As you may know, for the past few years, we have been working with various organizations to pass school choice policies that would help families receive tuition assistance through School Choice Scholarships. Since this legislation stalled in the house and senate, there is a new initiative that supports and also expands this policy.

Currently, we are developing and promoting the Education Opportunity Account Act. This program would allow families at private and public schools to request funds that would help offset tuition and other expenses. Specifically, it allows families to attend schools that have programs that serve their students’ educational requirements that are not being addressed in their current school. This would include desired curriculum, materials and special academic and learning needs. The curriculum and services of Christian Academy fall into this.

Household income qualifications begin at $63,788 for a household of two, $80,364 for a household of three and rise from there.

The funds would be provided by individuals and corporations who would receive tax relief for their contributions. This would not divert any funds from public education.

We will provide more information as it becomes available. We will need your help after the first of the year in contacting our state representatives to support this bill.

In the meantime, if you would like an inside look on this initiative, you can attend a virtual meeting on October 29, at 5:30 p.m.  You will need to sign up for this meeting here.

Thank you for your interest and please be in prayer for this important work.
