Congratulations to the CAL Field Hockey team who won their first KHSAA State Championship last night!  Freshman, Claudia Thomas, hit the game winning goal to defeat the defending state champions, Assumption High School.

"I am just so happy that I could be part of CAL making history here on our home field tonight. I was honored to have the shot," said Thomas.

CAL goal keeper Samantha Minrath had five saves and the University of Louisville commit was named the Midway/KHSAA student athlete of the year for field hockey.

CAL head field hockey coach, Stanley Phulpagar told the girls, "You have earned this spot. Now, let’s go earn the state…and my girls did it!”

The Centurions ended the season with a 22-5-2 record and also won the school's first ever Apple Tournament Championship. The Centurions reached the state semifinals the two previous years.

Jamie Wright and Jacquelyn Wilkins were named to the All-State Tournament team and Sam Minrath was named tournament MVP.
