CAL’s Varsity Golf team placed 3rd in the KIT (Kentucky Invitational Tournament) at Nevel Meade golf course on Sunday afternoon. The KIT is one of the largest golf tournaments with one of the strongest fields. CAL tied with a team score of 297 and West Jessamine Co. won in a playoff.

CAL’s team score was the lowest YTD with a team total of 301. Ben Montgomery was the overall winner with a score of 69. Montgomery’s playing partner rolled in a 40-foot birdie putt on the last hole to tie Montgomery at 2 under par. Ben proceeded to roll in his own 30-foot birdie putt to pull back ahead to 3 under par.

Spencer Swift and Jake Davis both shot 77, Jonathan Embry shot 78 and Jimmy Kev Clements shot an 85. This marked the first time CAL has had 4 scores below 80.

“Yesterday our golf scores were great but I was more impressed with the way our players represented their families, our school, and most importantly our Heavenly Father, said Coach Dortch. I cannot begin to tell you how many parents, coaches, players, rules officials, etc. came up and complimented our players. It is just good stuff!”
