On Saturday, the CAL girls’ golf team was a last-minute entry into the Christian Academy of Indiana Girls Invitational at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Sellersburg, IN. An opportunity presented itself to be a replacement team in the CAI tourney and the Lady Centurions brought home all the hardware! The team enjoyed fellowship with their sister school and a small field of other Southern Indiana schools on a beautiful day on the course.   This is the first girls’ golf trophy for CAL in at the last 5 seasons. The heavy overnight rain made the course play very long and difficult, but the girls persevered and claimed First Place Team honors with a 291 total. All four CAL golfers claimed individual honors.  Sophomore, Abby Stivers led the way with a 93 to win 2nd place individual thanks to a great 42 on the back nine. Sophomore, Sarah Son was right behind Stivers with another strong outing to claim 3rd place with a 94. 5th Place went to sophomore Carly Clements with a strong finish score of 104, and freshman Emily Neat brought home the 10th place medal with a 122. This invitation taught the Lady Centurions a great lesson heading into several of their most important events of the season in the coming weeks. They learned that by toughing it out and hanging in there despite some bad holes, they can finish with an overall effort that still produces winning results.
