CAL Welcomes New Field Hockey Coach

We are pleased to announce Stanley Phulpagar as the new head field hockey coach for the Lady Centurions. Phulpagar has coached at St. Francis High School and the University of Louisville, as well as, several local club teams over the last 15 years.

“My visions and goals will ultimately depend on our athletes and coaching staff, but my personal philosophy is this: Always dream really big, pray a lot about that dream and work at it a lot more. If those dreams come true, it will be because it was God's will; if not, at least enjoy the process of trying to achieve those dreams,” said Phulpagar

“Coach Phulpagar will bring to our program high expectations, an infectious energy, and great expertise to teach the game and build our ladies' skills. He shares our vision of using athletics as a platform to honor Christ and build relationships for the Kingdom and serving our community,” said CAL Director of Athletics, Darin Long. “His testimony and love of The Lord is evident in his life and conversations.”

In 2001, Phulpagar was the head coach of a U.S. field hockey travel team that toured England and the Netherlands. Stanley played field hockey at Bhavan College as well as semi-professionally for Marlhorn Sports Club in Bombay, India. He is currently an assistant professor of chemistry at Ivy Tech Community College.

Phulpagar ultimately decided to come to CAL for multiple reasons. “There were a lot of answered prayers and a lot of advice from people. My wife teaches at CAL, my son goes to school there, and my daughter will be attending starting next year. It was important for me to find a perfect replacement at St. Francis School that will take care of my girls, who are like my daughters,” said Phulpagar.

“I look forward to putting Godly principles into everythingI do: Coaching and teaching (technically and scientifically). In my previous coaching experience, I would do that but very few athletes would understand or appreciate the values of those principles,” said Phulpagar.“I'm really excited to see what God can do through our new Field Hockey Family at CAL!”
